Hey Tyler!
Easter is almost here, and the city is keeping pace — there's a lot happening between now and Easter Sunday. This week's edition has egg hunts, live music, the farmers market, a mayoral candidate forum that drew a packed house, and a ribbon cutting on a massive new dairy facility that's bringing real jobs to the area. Plus, Smith County is making it easy to do a little spring cleaning. Let's get into it!

Tyler's Next Mayor Steps Into the Spotlight
All four candidates vying for Tyler's next mayor — Stuart Hene, Shirley McKellar, John Nix, and James Wynne — came together for a packed public forum at the One REALTOR Event Center on Tuesday night. Infrastructure, traffic, water systems, and public safety dominated the conversation. Election Day is May 2, 2026, with early voting running April 20–28. Read more
City of Tyler Asks Residents to Conserve Water
The City of Tyler is asking residents to limit outdoor watering and follow a voluntary conservation schedule due to increased demand. Perhaps today’s rain will change this ask? Read more
A Bigger Discussion on Water?
Meanwhile, regional leaders are sounding a longer-term alarm: officials at a Longview Chamber of Commerce luncheon last week framed East Texas water as a genuinely precious resource that other parts of the state are eyeing — and said it's time for everyone to start thinking seriously about conservation and management. Hiland Dairy Cuts the Ribbon on a Brand-New Tyler Facility
Hiland Dairy held a ribbon cutting Wednesday for its expanded Tyler facility, a 96,000 square foot building that cost over $100 million to build and is set to produce over 100 million gallons of milk a year — more than four times the previous output. The expansion is expected to bring 80 jobs to the area over four years, with an average starting salary of $60,000 including benefits and overtime. Read more
Smith County's Free Spring Cleanup Is On
Perfect timing to tackle that pile in the backyard. The Smith County Sheriff's Office Environmental Crimes Unit and Commissioners Court are offering one free voucher per resident for a single trip to Greenwood Farms Landfill, allowing up to three cubic yards of solid waste, roughly a full pickup truck bed, to be dumped at no charge. April didn’t just show up strong—it’s doing exactly what it tends to do this time of year.
As we move further into the month, we’re seeing buyer activity pick up in a real way. Showings are increasing, online traffic is up, and the buyers who sat on the sidelines earlier in the year are starting to step back in. In East Texas, this is typically where momentum builds—families are thinking ahead to summer moves, and it’s simply easier to get out and look at homes.
What’s interesting right now is inventory still hasn’t fully caught up. That means sellers aren’t competing with a flood of listings just yet, but they are benefiting from more serious buyers entering the market. More attention + limited options = better opportunities—especially for homes that are priced correctly.
We’re already seeing it: well-priced homes are moving.
If you’ve been thinking about selling—even casually—this is a smart time to get a clear picture of where you stand.
