In case you haven’t heard… looks like it could be an interesting weekend in East Texas. We’ve got plenty of cold, and maybe even some snow on the way!

Who really knows though?

It may be nice and warm. And we may have just bought all this toilet paper for nothing.

Or we may be making another one of these in our yard this weekend.

Whatever happens, there are a few things going on this week in Tyler. Be sure to double check dates and times before planning anything though. We’ve already seen quite a few events get cancelled this weekend.

Winter weather prep mode: ON
Stores and households across East Texas are getting ready for freezing temps/ice potential. Worth a quick check on things around your home, and the pantry. Try to leave a few things things for your neighbors though.  Read more

Christus Trinity Mother Frances opened a new Pediatric ICU in Tyler. A little more critical care capacity close to home, and hopefully fewer trips out of town for folks who really need it. Read more

An estimated one half of Tyler High students participated in a walkout connected to broader immigration enforcement. A story worth checking out, whatever your political persuasion. Read more

Economist: East Texas slowdown now, but long‑term growth outlook remains positive
Analysis from economist Dr. Ray Perryman, noted that while East Texas has felt an economic slowdown, the region still has strong fundamentals and solid long‑term growth prospects. Good news, but worth noting that Tyler is not immune from all economic woes. Read more
