Tyler Man Smashes Guinness World Record — With Paper Airplanes ✈️ Richard DeFreece had a dream: get his name in the Guinness Book of World Records. The catch? He's not the fastest or the strongest (his words). So he went with paper airplanes. On Saturday, DeFreece folded 250 functional paper airplanes in just one hour at King's Academy Upper Campus gymnasium — crushing the previous record of 200. Every single plane was test-flown to prove it could actually fly. Read more

An estimated 10-12 people were seen leaving as clearing began. Read more

Texas Population Growth Is Slowing — But Tyler's Holding Strong 📊 New census data shows Texas' population growth slowed significantly in 2025, with domestic migration hitting a 20-year low. But here's the local angle: economist Dr. Ray Perryman says Tyler's long-term economic foundation is paying off — especially in healthcare, biotech, and education. Perryman noted that Tyler has maintained job growth even as the state has seen losses elsewhere. Tariffs, immigration shifts, and an aging workforce are creating headwinds statewide, but Tyler's diversified economy is positioned well for the long haul. Watch

Not much changed last week with interest rates we’re still hovering in the same range we’ve been in.

What is changing?
Spring is coming. (Cue the Game of Thrones theme just because)

And in Tyler, that means more listings, more buyers, and more competition.

If you’re even thinking about buying or selling in the next 3–6 months, now is the time to prepare. Not when everyone else jumps in.

I’m offering:

  • A free buyer consultation

  • A free property value report

No pressure. Just strategy.

Sign up at HomesEastTexas.com/contact and let’s get you ready before the spring rush hits.
