Happy New Year, Tyler!

We took a bit of a break last week to recharge our batteries, but we’re back and ready to dive into everything happening in our corner of East Texas. We hope your 2026 is off to a fantastic start — we certainly have big plans for the newsletter this year, so stay tuned!

We also made a few changes with how we organized the events this week. Let us know what you think at the end of this week’s newsletter.

The city is wasting no time getting moving. This week, we’re looking at some major area infrastructure milestones, from a new middle school to a long-awaited trail extension. If you’re looking to get out of the house, there’s plenty to do: you can kick off your fitness goals at the Run Tyler 5K Color Run, learn a rustic skill at Dutch Oven Cookin’ at the State Park, or catch the legendary Mavis Staples at the Cowan Center.

Here’s what you need to know this week in Tyler.

In today’s edition:

  • The Legacy Trail extension is officially open in South Tyler.

  • "Women in Tyler" announces its 2026 community honorees.

  • A new school opens.

  • The Week Ahead: your full community calendar.
