Tyler Named Fastest-Growing City in East Texas — And It's All About Families A deep-dive feature from the Texas Tribune spotlights Tyler's decade-long push to become the most family-friendly city in East Texas, and it's working. Between 2014 and 2024, Tyler ranked second for the largest percentage increase in people moving to the area, according to a Texas Tribune analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data. Mayor Don Warren and Chamber of Commerce president Henry Bell credit an intentional shift in strategy — moving away from attracting retirees toward building the parks, trails, and infrastructure that families actually want. UT Tyler Nursing Student Is Headed to Powerlifting Nationals Kinsley Allen is juggling Level 1 nursing school at UT Tyler and a shot at a national championship. Allen won the Texas state powerlifting championship at New Diana and will compete at the national championship in New Orleans later this month. She trains without a formal coach, crediting her uncle for introducing her to the sport, and says lifting at the gym is how she manages the pressure of nursing school. Watch the story

Tyler Takes a Hard Look at Pedestrian Safety Tyler's Traffic Safety Board met this week to discuss solutions after data showed that 33 people have been killed in pedestrian crashes in the city since 2020 — accounting for 37 percent of all fatal crashes, despite pedestrian incidents making up just one percent of total crashes. The city is exploring crosswalk improvements and corridor safety enhancements, particularly along major roads like the Loop and Highway 110. Read more
Smith County Joins Federal Task Force to Combat Online Crimes Against Children The Smith County Commissioners Court approved the sheriff's office to accept federal reimbursements for participation in the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, a Dallas-based network sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice. The task force is part of a national network of 61 coordinated units involving over 5,400 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies focused on investigating and prosecuting online child sexual exploitation. Tyler City Hall Has a New Policy: Bring Your Baby to Work This one's a feel-good and a first — the City of Tyler established a program allowing new parents to bring their infants to work, offering an alternative to a formalized paid maternity leave policy the city says it cannot currently afford. The program has already seen more than a dozen babies "retire" from city government since 2021, and it's drawing attention as a creative model for family-friendly workplaces. Read more

After news of a potential ceasefire, stocks moved up and the bond market followed. The 10 year Treasury, which mortgage rates tend to track, showed some relief and rates improved almost immediately.
That is what matters.
Mortgage rates are driven more by investor behavior than anything happening inside real estate. When global risk starts to ease, money moves back into bonds, yields come down, and borrowing costs follow.
We saw that play out today.
One day does not make a trend, but it does highlight what is really holding buyers back right now. It is not a lack of interest. It is uncertainty. When rates settle even a little, buyers start to re engage.
Now layer that with timing.
April has historically been one of the strongest months to bring a home to market in Texas. Buyer activity is picking up, families are planning around the next school year, and more people are actively watching for new listings.
So when you combine improving confidence with seasonal demand, you get a window where well priced homes can move with real momentum.
Because the right price changes everything. Timing just helps.
If you have been curious what your home might sell for in today’s market, you can get a quick look here.
